Designer Profile |
| |
Pinky Johar and her team of in-house designers are the designer behind the label which produces such vibrancy and femininity. The design team is continually evolving with the introduction of new designers from the best fashion colleges in Europe. |
| |
In November 1988 they opened their first modest UK showroom at Glentworth Street, Marylebone, specializing in made to measure evening for career women who wanted to make an impression. The showroom proved to be a resounding success over the years and has since led to a move to a far wider range of couture and larger premises in Wembley in 2001 in order to provide the perpetually growing design team with the space they need to develop their eye-catchingly elegant collections. |

Who is the label aimed at? |
| |
Back in 1988 we identified a gap in the market for exclusive, quality evening and occasion wear, made to fit the individual, at reasonable prices. In 2001 we also launched our first bridal wear collection after seeing there was a further lack of contemporary non “meringue style” dresses to suit modern bridal tastes. Our customer base has grown away from mainly professional women in The City, to every woman who wants an individual, one-off look for special occasions and weddings. Our aim is to offer beautifully made gowns with exquisite hand detailing while maintaining a high level of personal service. “The last thing our clients want is to turn up at an important event and find someone else in the same dress. This is why we have created in excess of one thousand individually-designed gowns, we never want a woman to have to settle for a gown", adds Pinky. |

What is the design ethos behind the label? |
| |
We have always taken the approach that it is important for us as designers, to create according to what suits our customers, so we tend towards styles that have a certain timeless quality about them while integrating a modern edginess to incorporate the latest season’s trends. Each decade has thrown up certain classic cuts and styles, which we have diligently incorporated in the collections that we design and produce. Because we understand the nature of modern couture, we always focus on styles that will appeal to our customers, rather than simply some catwalk ideal. Our focus has always been and will continue to be producing luxurious gowns that accentuate a woman’s beauty on the most special days of her life. |
